Week 13 Tute 10:00~12:00

I really want to say thank you very much to our tutor Chris who always care about all of the students, even nealry finish the class he still asked everybody Does anyone have any questions? This is my first year so I feel very shy and afraid to speak out loudly but he gives me lots of confidence. Thus, I am not afraid to do the presentation.
I have been learning a lots of knowledge from this course that I didn't have any ideas about the communication and new media, but now I got many knowledge and how to do it, such as Mobile phone, Photoshop, Search engine and so etc? Mobile phone is my essay topic; I through it was easy topic to find any resource when I read this topic but I was wrong, because some resource were already been too long time ago thus it hasn't update yet, that why it was really hard for me in doing this topic. Finally I found a book which I need. I learnt things from this subject and I don't think its too easy >.<
Photoshop is a really amazing technology program which you can changed your photo becomes any look you like such as light skin, light background, focus on the face or add some pictures. I really think this is a very smart creative that make people more looking good but also can make people ugly for fun. And it appears special efficacy also can make fake photo; it is really interesting technology, right!! Search engine is really useful for me, not only can use Yahoo search engine, and Google search engine. I get more chose la?I think this course is very interesting for me. Especially I really like in doing weekly task. I feel weekly task is good for me, because I am a lazy person, thus if all the tasks put together I can't finish it properly and quickly. By the way I really like to say that thank you for all of the teacher and classmate?and I hope we can have same subject in next term and good luck to all of you. Have a nice university life ^O^

Week11 Tute 10:00~12:00

I think this is a very useful and excellent tool when it comes to handing large amounts of important figures for calculating difficult formula and creating graphs such as rates of population, income’ s rates and etc. I have already used Microsoft Excel and feel it does very help me to figure out the percentage of graphs. Simply I just type each name into cell A1, B1, C1 as peter, Julia and James and then type the following amount for each cell. Followed by the spreadsheet is looks like all figures out in the amazing document. It’s very easy and simply for the business document and clear to see the each customer profile and information.
Furthermore, we don’t need to calculate any hardly formula such as benefit, total and gain. For example, it’s simply just enter the following formula like =B2*C2 and then press enter then automatic I have got the correct benefit number. And some company might be gain, might be loss.
I really like to have a graph in my report because it is easy to understand what the research resource in each year increased or decreased which you can see very clear in the graph and looks very professional report. It also very helpful software for the Business Company in doing their presentation.
This program is very useful for student who doesn’t know how to figure out the graphic and calculating to the accuracy in gain or loss. Before I know this software, I felt it’s very hardly to recognize all of the steps which need to key in the name or the number into the cells and then turn into the graph. But finally I got it and handle it at good way…

Week 10 Tute 10:00~12:00

Complete the Exercises below, and then write a report in your blog about your experience doing the exercises; were there any problems? What were your solutions? Did you find it too simple, or was it confusing? Can you see how this software might be useful to you?

Nowadays, Microsoft Word is a universal word processing program. I did follow up from the instruction and step by step. I found it’s very useful tool in doing our report, assignment and resume and easier to figure out the processing and save our time. The good way is I don’t need to organize any segments and any number in my documents. In exercise 2, those functions such as bold, italics; underline and bullets which always let people are focusing on the main point. For example, name of university, author name, reference and emphasis words.
In Exercise 3, it’s very hard to find the functions due to Chinese words thus I have to translate it and tried to find the right one but in this step also made me confused and have stopped for nearly one hour then finally I found the right one. I am so happy lol… I also found it will easy to write memos, articles and then fix the wrong sentence.

Simply I just write a letter or a job letter without any company name, job title, address, first name and contact number. After set up all of the basic functions which automatic into the empty place. Once you have to set up the letter for different company, then this function will be useful tool.

I do think Microsoft World 2003 is very easy and useful program thus people should know all of the functions and to use it and you will find many different from the smart creation and also save our time to set up the report spot and some one said that “money is time” accordingly don’t waste this good program and I do thanx someone who made this program, smart . I hope it will be more upgrade and easier.

Final essay

Mobile phones

Mobile phones have rapidly changed over the past few years. It made life more convenient, allowing people to talk to each other wherever they want. At the last count, there were more than 13 billion mobile phones in the world. (Woodford 2006: p28~29) They use the latest digital technology to send and receive text messages, data, photographs, videos and even television, as well as voice conversations. Many modern mobile phones are more like a computer than an old style telephone. Inside the mobile is a small microprocessor chip linked to a radio transmitter and receiver. It allow us to do the amazing thing your normally do on your computer. For example access to internet, sending the e-mail, watching life television etc.
How does mobile phone work? Who is the inventor of the mobile phone? Why mobile phone is so important to our life? What mobile phone is been change to from old time till future?On my research of this essay I will do a comparison with new and old mobile phones and also discuss some future technology. I will start with the history of the mobile phone.

These early mobile telephone systems can be defined from earlier closed radiotelephone systems which were used by police at that time. It is carried them in the police cars. To make calls, the police officer contacted a mobile telephone operator. Then the operator sent the call to the nearest radio station and transmitted the call to another police car. However such a device is very heavy and run off of the host vehicle's 12 volt electrical system very quickly. (Wikipedia 2007) Until 3rd of April 1973 Dr. Martin Cooper, who was a general manager at Motorola and the inventor of the mobile phone, made the first analogue mobile phone call to his rival Joel Engel, head of research at AT&T Bell Labs, while walking the streets of New York City talking on the first Motorola DynaTac prototype. It was large compared to today's Mobile phone. The Motorola DynaTac is 22.8 cm long, 12.7 cm wide and weighed around 1.2kg. ( Wikipedia 2007)

After the first mobile phone Motorola DynaTac prototype is out in 1973. It took another ten years to refine the working of the analogue mobile phone. In 1983 the 1 G (First Generation Wireless Telephone Technology) Motorola DynaTac 8000X was sell on the market and the different between Motorola DynaTac prototype and Motorola DynaTac 8000X was old one weighed around 1.2kg and new one weighed around 0.8kg. It makes more possible to carry around. On the old 12 function keypad they modified nine more function keys which were:

* Recall .
* Store
* Power
* Clear
* Function
* Lock
* Send
* End
* Volume
They also put in the new display screen using red LEDS which show limited in what information it could show. The bigger improvement were on the battery, it can last the call time up to 35 minutes and standby time up to 10 hours. (Wikipedia 2007)

In the 1990s, second generation wireless telephone technology mobile phone systems such as GSM and CDMA began to be introduced. The main different to the previous mobile telephone systems is that the radio signals use in 1G networks are analog, while 2 G networks are digital. 2G also improved network capacity, voice quality, size of the mobile phone, provided new international roaming services and still continues to use cellular technology and operates in the 800~900 MHz band ( Digital 21 Strategy 2004) This change was possible through technological improvements such as more advanced batteries and more energy efficient electronics, but also was largely related to the higher density of cellular sites caused by increasing usage levels. GSM stand for Global System for Mobile Communications. It is the most popular standard for mobile phones in the world. GSM service is used by over 2 billion people across and more than 212 countries. (Wikipedia 2007) The best thing about GSM is so many country using GSM System which makes international roaming very common. Roaming is defined as the ability for a mobile customer to automatically make and receive voice calls, send and receive data, or access other services when traveling outside the home network, by means of using a visited network. It offers the convenience of a single number, a single bill and a single phone with worldwide access to over 210 countries. (GSM Association 2007) For CDMD (Code Division Multiple Access), that separates subscriber calls from one another by code. As a result all available CDMA frequencies can be used in every cell, which increasing the total number of available voice channels and the system capacity. (Mymobilephone Pty Ltd 2000-2006)

To meet the growing demands of subscribers, rates required for high speed data transfer and multimedia applications mobile phones. The new age third generation wireless telephone technology (3G) was develop for providing the ability to transfer simultaneously both voice data and non-voice data (For example video telephone). The main difference between 2G and 3G is how fast data can be sending and received. Using a software called HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), which support 1.8 Mbps, 3.6Mbps, 7.2Mbps and 14.4Mbps in downlink.( Muratore 2001: p1~9) Nowadays 3G can send data up to 10 times faster than the rates of 2G, which means that more able to downloading information, access to internet, exchanging email, multimedia messaging, watching life television and mobile TV. (Telstra Network Information)

In the future the 4G (Fourth Generation Wireless Telephone Technology) will be a fully IP-based integrated system of systems and network of networks achieved after the convergence of wired and wireless networks as well as computer, consumer electronics, communication technology and several other convergences, that will be capable of providing 1Gbps with high security.( Kyun; Prasad 2006: p12~13) It offer us new experience on any kind of services at anytime, anywhere, at affordable cost and all in one billing.

It is the first time I managed to visit 3D chat room which looks very interesting cartoon program and seem to be like a computer game with chat room. Not like a regular chat room. In the first step you have to register your nickname and then make your own image girl who has hair color, eye color, clothes and shoes. I was very excited about to know the virtual world and create my own character. I have also checked the instruction to help me how to build your own place better. You can decorate your place as pretty and pink pink, haha my favorite color lol ^____^.

This is very powerful virtual reality experience I even seen before and interesting to let us create our own place in incredible 3D worlds which special from other users.
I tried to register into the 3D chat room then I found it really exciting things happened , my character (girl) is waiting for me to press the moves, moods and expressions, woooo#I am very excited to try all of the control key ^^b. There are server moods such as happy, sad, laugh, grooving mood, bashful mood, old mood and even say ※what going on§. I think this program is very powerful chat room that special virtual reality which totally different from traditional chat room as MSN. That is very good experience ^________^
